01COLD EMAIL

Best email verifier for cold email and the best email verification tool for each outreach setup

For cold email, pick a verifier that labels catch-all addresses separately and does not bill for results it cannot confirm. MillionVerifier is the cheapest for one-off list cleaning, ZeroBounce and Bouncer are the strongest pure verifiers, and if you are still sourcing the prospects, a finder with verification built in removes a whole step.

What's the best email verification software for cleaning a cold list?

For a cold list you already own, MillionVerifier is the best value: it sells 10,000 checks for $39 and does not bill for catch-all or unknown results, which are a large share of B2B files. Pay more for ZeroBounce or Bouncer only if you need their extra data or integrations. Prices and billing rules are in our MillionVerifier pricing breakdown.

If the list is still a spreadsheet of names and companies with no addresses yet, cleaning is the wrong first step. A finder that checks each address as it finds it does both jobs in one pass and skips the guessed rows entirely.

Why cold email needs a different verifier than newsletters

A newsletter list is made of people who gave you their address. A cold list is made of people who did not, usually pulled from a database, a scraped directory or a pattern guess. That list is older, dirtier and full of B2B domains that accept everything, and it goes out from sending domains that have little reputation to lose before mailbox providers start filtering them.

Google and Yahoo still hold bulk senders to a spam complaint rate under 0.3 percent, and most outreach teams treat 2 percent hard bounces as the line where a campaign should stop. On a typical cold list, the addresses that break that line are not typos. They are real-looking work addresses of people who left the company last year, and catch-all domains where no verifier can confirm the mailbox. Those two cases are where verifiers differ most.

Integration lists also differ. All six outside tools list a HubSpot integration. MillionVerifier lists Smartlead, Bouncer lists Lemlist, and none of them listed Instantly on their integrations page when we checked, so plan on a CSV step for that one.

What to check before you pay for an email verifier

Accuracy claims in this category all sit around 97 to 99 percent, and they are measured on the vendor's own test sets. These four questions tell you more.

  1. Does it separate catch-all from valid?

On a B2B cold list, catch-all domains can be a fifth of the file or more. A tool that quietly folds them into "valid" looks accurate and then produces bounces a week into the campaign. You want catch-all as its own status so you can send to those rows in a separate, smaller batch.

  2. Do you pay for results it cannot confirm?

Most tools now refund "unknown". Far fewer say anything about catch-all. On a list with a large catch-all share, that one line in the terms changes the real price per usable address more than the headline rate does.

  3. Does it fit where your list lives?

If your prospects live in a CRM, a native sync or export saves the CSV round trip. If they live in a sending platform, check whether the verifier connects to it or whether you verify before import. Verifying before import is the safer habit regardless.

  4. Credits or a subscription?

Credits suit one big clean-up. A team that adds prospects every week and re-checks old sequences is easier to budget on a monthly plan, as long as the plan does not bill misses.

The best email verifier for each cold outreach setup

You bought a large list and need it cleaned once

MillionVerifier. At $39 per 10,000 with catch-all and unknown free, nothing else in this table is cheaper for a pure clean-up. Hold the catch-all rows back for a separate test batch.

You run agency outreach across many client domains

Bouncer or ZeroBounce. Bouncer puts its effort into catch-all results on the Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 domains that dominate B2B lists, and ZeroBounce's $99 plan adds inbox placement tests and blacklist monitoring, which agencies use to show clients their deliverability.

Your prospects live in HubSpot or Salesforce

NeverBounce's $49 plan with CRM sync (our NeverBounce pricing breakdown has every tier), or a finder that exports straight to the CRM already verified. We cover the HubSpot side in detail in the HubSpot email verification tool guide.

You build your own lists from names and companies

A finder with verification built in. Finding in one tool and verifying in another means paying twice for the same address and moving CSVs between them. This is the case EmailExtractor is built for.

Where EmailExtractor fits, honestly

If all you need is to clean a file you already have, a pay-as-you-go verifier is cheaper per address than our plans, and we would tell you to use one. EmailExtractor is built for the step before that: you have a list of target companies or names, and you need the work addresses found and confirmed before they reach a sequence. The email finder ranks the likely address for each person, the email verifier checks the syntax, the domain and its MX records, disposable domains and typos, and only addresses that come back verified count against your plan. We do not run mailbox checks on the mail server, so for a pure SMTP scrub one of the verifiers above is the better tool.

Starter is $49 a month for 1,000 verified finds. Growth is $149 for 5,000 with bulk jobs of up to 10,000 rows, scheduled re-verification of saved lists and native HubSpot, Pipedrive and Salesforce export. Scale is $399 for 20,000 with the API. Once the list is clean, it goes into whatever you send with; if you are still choosing a platform to send personalized cold emails at scale, verify before the first import so the new domains start with a clean record.

Questions about email verifiers for cold email

What is the best email verifier for cold email?

The best email verifier for cold email is the one that reports catch-all addresses separately from valid ones and does not charge you for results it cannot confirm. For a one-off clean-up of a bought list, a cheap credit tool like MillionVerifier is hard to beat. If you also need to find the addresses, a finder with verification built in saves a step.

Should I verify emails before cold outreach?

Yes, every time. Cold email runs from sending domains with no engagement history, so mailbox providers judge them on bounces and complaints. Google and Yahoo bulk sender rules keep the spam complaint ceiling at 0.3 percent, and outreach teams generally aim to keep hard bounces under 2 percent. An unverified list rarely meets that.

Should I send cold emails to catch-all addresses?

Send to them separately and in small numbers. A catch-all domain accepts every address at the SMTP stage, so a verifier cannot confirm the mailbox exists. Many of those addresses are real, but some bounce later. Put them in their own campaign, watch the bounce rate on the first 50 to 100 sends, and stop if it climbs.

How much does email verification cost?

Pay-as-you-go verification costs roughly $39 to $130 per 10,000 addresses on the major tools as of September 2026, with MillionVerifier at the low end and ZeroBounce at the high end. Subscriptions start around $49 a month. The real cost depends on whether catch-all and unknown results are billed.

Is a built-in verifier in my cold email tool enough?

Often not. Many sending platforms run a basic syntax and MX check, which catches typos and dead domains but not dead mailboxes on live domains. That is exactly the failure that shows up when a prospect has changed jobs. Run a real SMTP-level check with catch-all detection before the list is imported.

How often should I re-verify a cold email list?

Re-verify any list older than about 90 days before you send to it, and verify fresh lists right before import. B2B addresses decay as people change jobs, so a list that tested clean in spring carries a noticeable share of dead mailboxes by autumn. A list sitting unused in a sequence tool is the classic source of a bounce spike.
